Dr. Brittany Durham Senn

I grew up in the Mount Pleasant area and graduated from Harts Bluff ISD and Chapel Hill ISD. Growing up I told my mom I wanted to be a veterinarian. She thought making me work for one would change my mind and steer me in a different direction, but boy was she wrong! I started working for Dr. Skidmore when I was in middle school and I knew there was nothing else I would rather do for the rest of my life. After graduating from Chapel Hill I became the proudest member of the fightin’ Texas Aggie class of 2009. Whoop! I continued my education at the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine in 2008. In March of 2011 during my final year in veterinary school I married my wonderful husband, Jay Senn. I received my DVM in May of 2012 and started working for Dr. Skidmore as an associate in June of 2012. I am so blessed to be back in my home town and work for such an incredible mentor with fantastic staff. I am surrounded by family and friends and I love what I do every day.

Dr. Jerry Skidmore

I know precisely when I went to Nevils Chapel School (1957-1959), to Harts Bluff School (1960-1962), and when I graduated Mt. Pleasant High School (1966). I am Class of ’70 Texas A&M University, and I remember the day I graduated with High Honors. That hot August day in 1971 is etched in my memory as the day I graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine, also with High Honors.

After graduation, I went on active duty and served the remainder of my six year military obligation at Ft. Eustace, Virginia as Captain, USAR Veterinary Corp. Then as soon as possible, I came home to Mt. Pleasant Animal Clinic. Under the guidance of Dr. Sam Halley, I practiced general veterinary medicine including horses and cattle, dogs and cats, pigs, goats, ferrets, all creatures great and small. After 11 years of mixed practice, I wanted to improve my skills, so I had to narrow my focus. I limited my practice to dogs and cats, the transition of which was completed in 1986.

All these milestones would not have mattered, indeed probably would not have happened at all, if Suzanne McKelvey had not lowered her standards and married me August 26, 1967. Our son, Tom, was born July 1970.

I can tell you the times and dates for all these events, but I honestly do not know precisely when I earned the highest honor I can ever imagine. At some point during the last 41 years, someone bestowed upon me the title of “Doc.” Whoever you are and whenever you did, I say thank you.

I have been with Mt. Pleasant Animal Clinic since 2005. When I first started working, I was an assistant and have since worked my way up to technician. I have 5 animals of my own (turns out I’m not a good foster mom). That brings me to the rest of my family: I have a husband, Brandon, and a beautiful little girl. She takes after her father, most of the time. I enjoy helping people and animals. God could not have picked a better line of work for me and I am very proud to be part of the Mt. Pleasant Animal Clinic team.

“The righteous care for the needs of their animals, but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel.” (Proverbs 12:10)

Jennifer

I am from Saltillo and Mt.Vernon. I grew up on a dairy farm and we had animals big and small and all sizes in between. I graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1989 and I graduated from Texas Women’s University in May of 1993 with a BBA. I became an airline pilot and then flew corporate airplanes for 11 years. For a slower pace of life, my husband and I live on a farm and raise registered cattle. We also have a llama, three dogs, ducks and geese. The dogs are our furry face children. My parents have granddogs. The oldest is almost 13 years old, an English Setter named Speckles. The next is a 12 year old Yellow Lab named Hana. And last but not least the newest addition to our family is a 1 1/2 year old Black Lab named Suzie. Animals big and small have always been a big part of my life. Dr. Skidmore has been their Doctor for all of their lives. He has been there for us through all of our checkups and our few emergencies that we have had over the years. When I was just a client/patient of Mt. Pleasant Animal Clinic it felt like a second home for us. As an employee it is a second home for us. I am so proud to be part of a wonderful, professional and caring environment.

Brittany

Hi! My name is Brittany and I have been working for Dr. Senn as a full time technician since 2017. I assist the doctors with most tasks as well as working in reception. My tasks include dental cleanings, laboratory work, radiographs, surgery prep, assisting in surgical procedures, and much more! I have always loved animals, and loved helping them since I was a little girl. I have two dogs that mean the world to me – Zeus and Bella Ray. I enjoy my job so much! I could not have picked a better place to work and I am very proud to be part of Mt. Pleasant Animal Clinic team.

Rhonda

I began working at Mt. Pleasant Animal Clinic in the Spring of 2018. I have been a Veterinary Technician since 1999 where most of those years were at Hughes Springs Veterinary Hospital. It has been a joy and privilege to care for all the precious pets that come into the clinic. I enjoy the work and a lot of times it is just wonderful to be around the people that I get to serve by caring for their pets and helping in any way I can. Thank you for allowing me to serve you and your pets in this capacity! I appreciate being able to work with such sweet people. We have a great family atmosphere at the clinic and we work as a team to give the best care possible. I live in Daingerfield with my husband James and we have two amazing children, one son-in-law, and two precious grandchildren.

Anna

I have been working at Mt. Pleasant Animal Clinic since December of 2018. I began as a receptionist and have since been trained as a full time veterinary technician for Dr. Senn! I help wherever I can in the clinic: in the exam rooms, the lab, surgeries, inventory, and up front. I have been married to my husband, Gary, for 13 years and I have 3 dogs at home. The amazing people I work with feel like a second family.

Ragena

I started working here in the fall of 2020 as a receptionist, answering the phones, setting up appointments to fit the needs of our customers and their fur babies. I really enjoy being part of such a caring group.

I grew up in Mt. Pleasant and was taught from a very young age to love animals. My husband Gary and I currently have three dogs and one cat all of which were rescues. I have raised a lot of orphaned puppies and wildlife including rabbits, squirrels, and my favorite – racoons! I love to cook, do crafts and travel when I can. I have two children, a son-in-law and a daughter-in-law, and six wonderful grandchildren.

Faith, family and fur-babies make me happy.

Maci

Hello, my name is Maci! I graduated from Sulphur Springs High School in 2017, and then graduated from Texas A&M University-Commerce in 2020 with a major in equine studies and a minor in agricultural. I began working at the Mt. Pleasant Animal Clinic in October of 2020. My duties at the clinic are running in house diagnostics, assisting Dr. Senn, Dr. Skidmore and the technicians as well as helping out the receptionist and sneaking treats to the clinic pets!

My love and passion has always been working with animals large and small. My love grew about 70 pounds when I rescued my sweet but stubborn doghter Milly on the side of a dirt road when she was just a puppy. I couldn’t have asked God to place me in a better spot than this clinic!

In memory of Dixieland Jazz and Juicy Fruit 1997-2013.

Born in December of 1997, and at two months of age, started her career of greeting customers, blocking door entrances, riding in front seats, retrieving doves, ducks, pheasants, quail, woodpeckers, crop dusters, B52 bombers, space stations, meteorites and anything else that may fall from the sky. More importantly, she diligently cared for her person, Dr. Jerry Skidmore, for almost 15 years.
